ALBANY - The Public Employees Federation (PEF) today announced that it has endorsed Albany County D.A. David Soares for re-election. PEF leaders said that Soares has a proven record of responding to the needs of its members.
"David Soares met directly with our members who work at the Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC) to listen to their experiences as victims of workplace violence," said Tom Comanzo, PEF Regional Coordinator for the Albany area. "He went above and beyond by appointing a member of his staff as a liaison between our members and his office. His intervention on behalf of our members has demonstrated his commitment to addressing the needs of his constituents."
"David Soares is one of the best district attorneys in the state," said Pat Baker, a PEF vice president. "He cares about justice for all, not just the privileged few. He has done extraordinary work to protect workers from workplace violence and restore hope in the system. David Soares' brand of change is working."
Soares accepted the endorsement with pride. "I am proud to be endorsed by workers that keep our state government operating efficiently and provide quality services for all New Yorkers. As district attorney, I am going to keep on working to change our criminal justice system to ensure that every resident of Albany County is safe in their homes, on our streets and in their workplaces."
PEF is a union representing 59,000 professional, scientific, and technical state employees, including more than 10,000 members who live in Albany County.
