David Soares believes in stopping crime before it starts, with innovative ways of preventing harm and keeping young people out of trouble. Since taking office in 2005, David has:

• Expanded the Community Accountability Board that has given second chances to 300 non-violent, first-time offenders. Through the program, these individuals have had the opportunity to turn their lives around. They have accepted responsibility for their crimes and are positively serving their communities.
• Connecting at-risk youth to education and jobs.
• Fought for Rockefeller drug law reform.
